This alloy offers superior ductility than some other low melt alloys. JA8 is a lead based alloy. It can be bent without breaking. Must be used with a high heat silicone such as Wacker M4670 or M4470, the release agent is Graphite powder. Casting range 275°C - 320° C. Each stick of JA8 varies in weight, averaging at approx. 500gms.
Directions:
Heat metal in a temperature controlled cooker or pot on the stove until JA8 becomes a liquid, do not over heat the alloy. Pre-dust silicone molds with Graphite or Talc powder. Pre-heat molds to 120C (read silicone technical data sheet) or recycle first cast until desired surface finish is reached. Once cooled JA8 can be polished to a high-quality finish.
Sealers must be applied to avoid oxidation. Various sealers are used from automotive wax to a lacquered base paint. Pre-test any paints for adhesion prior to production.
Please note: the average weight per stick of JA8 is 250-330gms.
