  • Container

  • Pouring pot

How To Make Candles?

Step 1: Start Preparing Your Container

You’ll need a heat-resistant container to pour your candle wax into. It is recommended that you only use containers from reputable candle suppliers to make candles for safety reasons. It’s time to melt the wax after your candle jars have been cleaned, dried. Don’t forget to secure the wick!

Step 2: Pour the Candle Wax In the Container.

You can buy candle-making supplies separately, but it’s more cost-effective to buy a candle-making kit that contains all of the wax, wicks, fragrance oils, pouring pot required for a complete set of candles.

Using scales, accurately measure the amount of  wax you need for each of the candles. Transfer the flakes to a candle pouring pot.

Step 3: Melt

Place the candle pouring pot filled with soy wax flakes into a deep pot filled with simmering water. Using this double boiler method, melt soy wax flakes over medium heat.

Step 4: Add Fragrance Oil

When the wax has completely melted to the recommended temperature, add 6-10% ( by weight) of fragrance oil of your choice.  Stir until fragrance oil is completely mixed into the wax.

Step 5: Fix the Wick

Before pouring the candle, fix the wick to the container’s bottom. The wick should have a flat metal bottom; using a stickum, attach the metal bottom, known as the wick tab, in the middle of the container.

Step 6: Pour the Melted Wax

Gently remove the wax from the heat and pour into your container. If the wick becomes loosened from the bottom, use the kit’s wick-centering tool to keep it in position. (When the wax hardens, the wick will be in the center of the candle.)

Step 7: Let it Settle

The wax will take a few hours to become solid again, so leave the candles undisturbed. When the candle has completely set, you will need to trim the wick.

Step 8: Trim the Wick

You should always trim the wick of any candle before burning it, including those you brought from outside stores. You can trim by wick by using scissors or you can also use a wick trimmer. Trim the wick to about ¼ inch and your candle is ready to burn.
